Pauric Mahony is pleased that Waterford have negotiated a quick return to Division 1A.

Sunday's victory over Wexford secured promotion for Derek McGrath's young side, who will host Galway at the quarter-final stage of the league on Sunday evening:

"All year we have been taking it one step at a time," the high-scoring centre forward says in The Irish Examiner. "This is another step along the road. It is great to be back up in 1A and this was an important win for us.

"We worked very hard during the off-season and had a lot of good ground work done coming into the league.

"It is all about building momentum for championship. We're tipping away nicely. We're not, however, taking things for granted. We know we have to put this result to bed and focus on next weekend.

"A lot of us have played together underage and Derek has been working on a game-plan that we are just trying to stick to as best we can. The hope is that it will rub off on the field and I think that is happening."
