Waterford manager Tom McGlinchey is eager for a response from his players in this weekend's NFL Division Four clash against Longford.

The Decies were left shell shocked last weekend as a late surge by Carlow earned them the two points, even though Waterford had been leading by six with nine minutes to go.

McGlinchey has had the job of picking up the players ahead of this weekend's match against an in-form Longford side, but he has urged them to push on.

Speaking to the Waterford News & Star he said: "Longford had a big win in London and their gander will be up after that. As I said to the players, we have two choices here now. We can learn from our mistakes and drive on.

"There's still four games left in the league and I have seen teams qualify out of this with ten points. Ten points could put us in a very strong position.

"By no means is it over and we are not throwing in the towel at this stage. It is going to be very hard in Longford but we have good lads there with good character and I would be hopeful that they will respond next Sunday."
