O'Connor: we left no stone unturned

January 28, 2015

Cappoquin trainer Fintan O'Connor heaped praise on the players following their heart-breaking defeat to O'Donovan Rossa in the All-Ireland club IHC semi-final last weekend.

The Antrim side proved too strong on the day, but it has been a remarkable journey for the Waterford outfit and O'Connor was keen to stressed to the Waterford News & Star that they couldn't have given anymore on the pitch.

"I told them that they didn't leave any stone unturned. Every time, we as asked them to train, they trained. They drove for challenge matches and they did everything they were asked," said O'Connor.

"It's a long road because we started training last November. That's fifteen months so it's tough going. They are a credit to themselves with the work ethic and I think they showed that a little bit in the second half. They weren't prepared to give up and that's a good sign of a team. Hopefully, they will do themselves justice next year in the senior championship."
