Ballygunner selector Padraig Connolly believes that their season turned following the semi final win over Dungarvan.

The county champions had to dig deep to see off an up and coming Dungarvan side in the semi final, before beating old rivals Mount Sion in last Sunday's county final.

Connolly told the Waterford News & Star that the players found a new belief in themselves following that win and it helped get them through the decider.

"That's where we won it, in the semi final," said Connolly. "When it was put up to us, that's when we had to answer the questions. We had character and we had to show it. We didn't have it last year, but we certainly have it this year."
