Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox

November's AIG Fenway Park hurling in Boston classic has seen over 10,000 tickets sold within 24 hours of going in sale.

The clash sees Galway take on Dublin in an exhibition the famous baseball venue, which is home to the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, November 22, with the game forming part of an Irish Festival at Fenway that weekend.

Estimations are that the final attendance could reach the stadium's 38,000 capacity, with organisers now planning to open up further seating to meet the demand after a greater than anticipated take up when tickets went on sale on Thursday evening.

As Fenway is unable to facilitate a full length hurling pitch, the game will be played in a Super 11s format and will be the first time hurling has been played at the famous venue since 1954.

The game will be played in the Super 11s format which allows hurling to be played at stadia that can't facilitate a full length pitch. It will be the first time hurling has been played at Fenway Park since 1954.

Tickets are being sold through the Boston Red Sox website at RedSox.com/IrishFestival.
