The CCCC has decided not to take action against Philly McMahon for his altercation with Aidan O'Shea on Sunday.

The Dublin defender moved his head towards the Mayo full forward and there were suggestions that he could be charged - especially as the precedent existed with Monaghan forward Tommy Freeman serving an eight-week ban in 2009 for a similar offence against Derry.

However, having convened yesterday to discuss referee Joe McQuillan's report and review other aspects of the fractious drawn semi-final, the CCCC has opted to take no action against McMahon.

Mayo ace Cillian O'Connor is also free to play on Saturday after it was agreed that his arm swing which led to a nasty cut to Rory O'Carroll's eye was not a red-card offence.

O'Carroll had to leave the action early in the first half with a cut that required ten stitches, and was replaced at full back by McMahon after Michael Fitzsimons came on.
