Leah Lavin - Boston Shamrocks

Boston GAA By Rory O'Donnell

There were a couple of big results in the Boston championships this weekend.  In the Ladies senior football championship the Boston Shamrocks earned their first win of the year, a 3-8 to 1-8 victory over Connacht Ladies.  The win means that the Shamrocks will live to play a semi-final in 3 weeks time against either Tir na nOg or last Sunday's opponents.

On the Men's side Aidan McAnespies enjoyed a morale boosting win over Shannon Blues by the slenderest of margins.  McAnespies hung on to a one point win and the Blues now have experienced two narrow losses in a row in the tightest of football championships in memory.  Christopher's survived a scare against Kerry who had just pride to play for.  Next weekend will see the playoff shake out as the seven round championship is completed.  I would not be surprised to see a playoff game required to determine the final quarter final place.

Tipperary senior hurlers put on another devastating display with a massive 20 point win over Galway.  The Tipp machine rolls on.  In junior competition the four semifinalists were decided and all that is left is the order.  Wolfe Tones beat Aidan McAnespies, which means that Donegal, Connemara Gaels, McAnespies, and the Tones are top 4.

Next weekend a lot will be decided with the final 3 senior football games to be played.  Galway and the Gaels could be the big one with each team possibly needing the win to avoid being odd man out.
