A great catch from Wayne Guthrie - Shannon Blues

By Rory O'Donnell
The big result of the day on Sunday was Christopher's one point victory over Shannon Blues.  The Blues had been unbeaten so far this year, while Christopher's had been on the wrong end of a few disappointing results.   Each side recorded some fantastic scores, however, it looked as though the result was headed the Blues way heading into the final 15 minutes.  Cathal Vaughan tallied the scores to level the game, a point followed by a goal brought the teams on level terms.  The Blues went two points ahead again going into the final five minutes, but Christopher's willed themselves to the win, Vaughan once again getting the tying and winning scores.

Wexford also recorded a big win to keep their interest in the senior hurling championship alive.  Jamie Desmond and Conor Robinson were outstanding in the back line, while all of the forwards contributed to a 4-15 to 4-12 win.

Wolfe Tones delivered a hefty defeat to the Connemara Gaels.  The final score of 5-13 to 1-8 was a fair reflection on the game.  Dara McVeety and Tomas O'Connor made big contributions in the forward line, O'Connor netted 4 times.

Tir na nOg handed Boston Shamrocks their third defeat of the season, it was a close one 3-9 to 3-7.

Next week sees the start of the next two rounds of games for the senior footballers.  It is shaping up to be a dogfight for the last two or three playoff places, while the senior hurlers of Tipperary and Wexford battle for top spot.
