St. Patrick's GAA Club Announces Annual U8 Tournament

May 20, 2015

Fairfield, Connecticut.  St. Patrick's GAA Club, of Fairfield, Connecticut, has announced that the Club will hold its annual U8 Gaelic Football Tournament on Saturday June 21st on the campus of Fairfield University.  The U8 Tournament is expected to be one of the highlights of the 27th Annual Fairfield County Irish Festival which runs from June 19-21 and draws teams from throughout the tri-state area.

"The U8 Tournament is a terrific opportunity for young players to develop Gaelic football skills while learning to work together as a team," said Tommy Moran, the Club's long-serving Youth Officer and Tournament Director.  He added, "although there are cups and medals to be won, with small sided teams and lots of games to be played, every player will get a chance to participate in games and contribute to their team's efforts.  The real goal of the tournament is that youth players learn first-hand about the fun and excitement of Gaelic football."

Teams are assigned to one of three groups, generally according to age cohorts.  Jim Carolan, the Tournament Registrar said that, "It's important that Club's pre-register for this tournament so that we can properly assign each team to the group that best suits the players' age and experience levels."

For more information and registration materials, Club's may contact St. Patrick's at [email protected] or via the Club's website at www.stpatricksgfc.org.
