Keith Scally is expecting a big performance from his New York team in Sunday's Connacht SFC opener against Galway.
The Exiles have shipped some heavy defeats in the championship since giving the Tribesmen the fright of their lives five years ago, but team captain Scally believes the addition of Wexford's PJ Banville, Derry's Niall McFeely and JJ Matthews of Longford to the squad will make them difficult to beat in The Bronx this weekend.
"The lads that have stayed on from last year's panel and when you are adding PJ, Niall McFeely and Darren Freeman to name a few, it does make you feel you are heading in the right direction out here," the former Westmeath footballer and Tyrrellspass clubman said in the Irish Sun.
"It gives us great belief heading into Sunday. There are a very proud bunch of lads here with varying amounts of inter-county experience.
"But when you look around the dressing-room, I have full confidence we have the panel there this year that can really make waves in this Connacht championship."
