Kerry start the 2015 season with a four point win over St. Christophers by a score of 1-10 to 0-9. The only goal of the game coming mid way through the second half by John O'Keefe who was one on one with the goalie and he sent a low ball into the back of the St. Christophers net. In a very entertaining game of football there was little between the sides. Kerry went in at the half ahead by 0-5 to 0-3.
Kerry started the second half with an early point but St. Christophers fought back with 3 rapid points and the sides were level at 7 points apiece. It was then when John O'Keefe struck for Kerrys goal and O'Keefe quickly added another point to leave Kerry ahead by 4 points. St Christophers came right back looking for a goal of their own but they were denied by a brilliant save at the expense of a point by Brian O'Driscoll the Kerry goalie and Dan Conneally added another point for the Christophers. Kerry came looking for their second goal but had to settle for a 45 which Robbie Croft stoked over to leave the full time score 1-10 to 0-9. Man of the match John O'Keefe Rathmore brother George O'Keefe. Also playing well Ian Whelan, Robbie Croft and Kieran Wallace from Carraroe club in Galway. He really stood out today.
Kerry play the Shannon Blues Saturday May 2nd in the second round of the Pat O'Brien cup.
