Video: 'Exceeding Expectations' - 2014 CYC in New York

July 22, 2014

230 teams from across the USA and Canada will be hosted by New York GAA.

See an interview with one of the founding fathers of the CYC (Continental Youth Championships) on the eve of the 2014 event in New York.

Jarlath Connaughton, via Dublin and the Ottawa Gaels, set up the competition in 2003 and has seen it exceed all expectations.

230 teams from across the USA and Canada will be hosted by New York GAA for four days of games at Randall's Island.

'I had no idea starting out where it would go but it's now the biggest youth tournament outside of Ireland', says Jarlath. 'This has the potential to become a Minor/Junior Olympics'.
