Senior Football Challenge: New York v Toronto (St Vincent's) - Saturday April 5 - 4pm

The Gaelic Athletic Association of New York will enjoy the great privilege of hosting a football team from Toronto, Canada this weekend.

WHERE? Gaelic Park
WHEN? Saturday April 5, 4pm
ENTRY: $10

With Mayo's visit to New York now just over four weeks away, this challenge game will provide Ian Galvin's team with a much-needed practice run against an experienced outfit.

Made up largely of St Vincent's players, the Toronto visitors boast many intercounty standard players. For more on the opponents, see the the official New York website.

New York senior team manager Ian Galvin said: "I was keen to have a good standard of opposition for our panel to test themselves against. It is going to be a tough game as they will be bringing some serious players but without any ability to warm up against intercounty opposition, the tougher the test they give us, the better."

New York County Board Chairman Liam Bermingham said: "We are delighted and honored to have a GAA team from north of the border visit Gaelic Park and we appreciate the effort they are going to facilitate Ian and his players in their preparations for May 4."

St Vincent's/Toronto manager Stephen Sheridan said: "Everyone is very excited about the trip and has put in huge committment and effort to make sure it is a success. Obviously we are the underdogs going in and we know about some of their main players and threats but we are looking forward to an exciting and competitive game. We are expecting their fitness to be a bit superior but we will not be backing down from any battles on the field and will have a quiet confidence in relation to our own fitness, abilities and game plan."
