Ulster GFC San Francisco recruiting new players

January 15, 2014

The Ulster Gaelic Club, San Francisco celebrate.
The Ulster Gaelic Club, San Francisco are actively recruiting new players and members.

Since forming in 1987, the Ulster Club has been represented by every county in Ireland. In 2012 and 2013 the Ulster Club won the North American Senior Championships in Philadelphia and Cleveland, making history by becoming the first San Francisco team to win back to back Senior Championships. In 2013 the senior team was managed by 1999 All-Ireland Minor winning manager, Gerry Dougherty and trained by Ireland and Wicklow player, Leighton Glynn.

In 2014, Ulster will be the first USA club to use Performa Sports, an app that tracks the performance analysis of players, a system used by some of the top clubs and counties in Ireland.

Through the years the Ulster Club has been represented by some of the top players from Ireland, including Tyrone's Stephen O'Neill and Kevin "Hub" Hughes, Down's Keith Quinn, Dan Gordon, Brendan McVeigh, John Clarke, Gregory Mc Cartan, Ryan Brady, David Mc Kibbin and Danny Savage; Antrim's Kevin Brady, Kildare's Niall Brown and Dublin's Paul Hudson, Chris Guckian, Alan McCarrick and Sean Murray.

In our current crop of home based players there are 3 All-Ireland Senior Football medals with numerous players having represented their counties at under-age levels. The Ulster Club pride ourselves on looking after our players and members, helping with accommodation and work whenever needed. Players of all abilities are welcome to represent at Senior, Junior and Junior B level, or if you just want to get involved in the social club, you are more than welcome.

Outside of football there is a very active social club. We have a great group of ladies and gents that organize many social events including The Ulster Golf Society, Thanksgiving dinner, BBQs, summer trips to Lake Tahoe, ski trips to Lake Tahoe and our annual Dinner Dance.
