Spring League Round 2

It was a somewhat quiet weekend on the camogie front with only two of the scheduled games going ahead.

Croydon travelled to Holly Lane, Birmingham, for a double header, with the Celts taking on Erin go Bragh, and the Gaels facing newcomers Liverpool Wolfe Tones.

The Celts were much too strong for a young Erin go Bragh team, and despite a battling performance from EGB, Croydon ran out convincing winners.

Unfortunately, a number of transfers that Liverpool Wolfe Tones were waiting on, failed to come through before the weekend's games. With a panel of 15 (though 4 were ineligible to play competitively), LWT chose to concede the points to Croydon Gaels, and instead, played a challenge game, thus allowing all players to get some match time under their belt. In a highly competitive game, Croydon needed all of their experience to overcome a strong LWT team. LWT have some fine players, and will certainly be a force to be reckoned with in the Junior Championship.

Other fixtures today saw points gained for Tara Rovers over Bros. Pearse, and Fullen Gaels over Green Isle. The Tara Óg v Fr. Murphy's game is being re-fixed.

Next week sees a break for the bank holiday weekend, with a full round of games scheduled again for Saturday May 9th.
