Tir Chonaill Gaels coach Barney Breen had nothing but praise for his side following their defeat to Corofin in the All-Ireland club SFC quarterfinal at Ruislip last Sunday.

The London champions battled it out with the Galway and Connacht champions before the latter pulled away in the second half.

At half time, Corofin lead by 0-02 to 0-01 as TCG battled for every ball in a match that was played in far from ideal conditions for football.

Speaking to the Irish Post, Breen stressed that the players must take great credit for their performance against one of the top teams in the country.

"I thought we put in a savage effort," said Breen. "If you said to me beforehand Corofin would only score nine points I would have thought we'd beat them.

"But it's been a fantastic year for us. A brilliant performance against possibly the All-Ireland champions. You have to look back at that match with satisfaction."
