New format pleases Brien

November 21, 2014

Provincial Council Chairman Brendie Brien believes that the new format of the All-Britain championship has been a success.

There have been many more games played under the new format and Brien told the Irish Post that the standard has improved because of this.

"With the new format, it's been a brilliant year, before where we have had just the one game, we now have five games in a round-robin format and then knock-out matches," said Brien.

"The junior hurling shield has been excellent for the smaller clubs - given that between the two competitions we have only had seven walkovers in some 40 matches that shows how promising both are."
