London manager Paul Coggins insists Cathal McCarron is capable of reviving his inter-county career with Tyrone.

A GPA statement yesterday confirmed that McCarron is "working on his personal fitness under a strength and conditioning coach with a view to returning to full training with the Tyrone squad" after returning from a spell in London where he had briefly played under Coggins. The Dromore clubman and 2013 All Star nominee had sought a new life in the English capital after struggling with a gambling addiction.

"It's very positive and I wish the man the best of luck," Coggins told the Irish Examiner.

"He's obviously doing a lot of good things to get back involved in a squad like Tyrone's.

"He's a good footballer and he brought a lot of positives to the London squad while he was here. He has huge experience of playing in big games and we enjoyed our time working with him.

"Absolutely he's capable of playing at the top level. He wouldn't be back in the Tyrone squad if he's not able to do that."
