Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes

July 21, 2014
Seniors:
Our senior team kept alive their hopes of qualifying for the semi finals of the championship after a hard fought win over Fulham Irish last Saturday.
Played at a scorching Ruislip it was nip and tuck in the opening half until a late Cathal Magee goal settled the nerves a little going into the break.
The Gaels kept up the pressure in the second half but found it difficult to open up a gap bigger than 3 to 4 points with a goal always a treat from Fulham.
Step up Benny O'Reilly who was introduced midway through the half and as he has done many times this season finding the onion bag to settle the contest in the final minutes.
There is still a lot of hard work to be done to progress but the signs are encouraging, best on the day were Brian Ross, Mark Gottsche, Darren Gilsenan and man of the match Cathal Magee. Final score TCG 2-14 Fulham Irish 0-11:

Juniors:
The junior team have kept their interest in the championship going by defeating Dulwich Harps last Sunday at Greenford.
The young guns have only been a shadow of the team that missed out on claiming the cup last season but their were glimpses on Sunday that the towel has not been thrown in yet.
Best on the day were Cormac McGarvey, Gavin McEvoy, Patrick Flynn and Kevin Browne with two goals. Final score TCG 2-16 Dulwich Harps 0-5.

Cycling Legends:
Two of the clubs former star players have just completed stage 18 (Pau to Hautacam) of the Tour De France covering 146km over the Pyrenees.
Frank Glynn (not one to blow his own trumpet) and Terrence Gallagher took on the gruesome challenge last Sunday and have returned to tell the story (porkies).
Frank who recently won the Paris Roubaix maters race over cobble stones had decided to take the relative novice Terrence under his wing and guide his over the finishing line.
Well done lads and it is highly unlikely that we will hear of this again.
