Football continues for U8 boys (P3 & P4), U10 boys (P5 & P6) and U12 boys (P7 & Year 1) from 7.00 > 8.00 pm on Thursday (29th) evening. Carrickmore was the venue for our U8 boys blitz last Saturday (24th). We travelled with 11 players, so fielded one team. First up was the 'A' team from the host club, and our lads struggled to get going. Next up was Kildress, followed by Cappagh, Omagh and Carrickmore 'B' - all at a relentless pace! The standard of football our lads played progressed throughout the morning and they finished with a good win against our final opponents. Thanks to Carrickmore GFC for a well-organized blitz and for the refreshments afterwards.
Girls U8 (P3 and P4) and U10 (P5 and P6) training continues this Wednesday (28th) from 6 > 7 pm.
Our U12 girls continue training this Wednesday (28th) evening from 6 pm to 7 pm.
The U14 boys played a very big and strong Strabane team last Wednesday (21st) in the Championship. Our boys gave it their all and where unlucky not to have got a goal or two in the first half, which would have left the scoreline a bit closer at halftime, Strabane 1-9 Killeeshil 0-4. On the restart, Killeeshil had no other choice but to open up and have a go but unfortunately when playing teams of this quality, they punish every mistake but credit must go to our young team, like they have done all year, they never gave up and scored two brilliant goals before time ran out. Final score: Killeeshil 2-8 Strabane 3-18. Last Saturday (24th) our lads travelled down to Trim, Co Meath to play in the Feile Competition where we would take on other grade 1 teams from Cork, Meath and Antrim. First up was Carragaline from Co. Cork, and with a strong breeze blowing across the pitch, our lads struggled to contain the Cork lads as they managed to make better use of the ball and with them already having played a game in the group, they were that bit sharper so got the win. Our next group game was against Skyrne from Co. Meath. They were tough lads, those Meath boys but our lads matched them all over the pitch and started playing some lovely football to record a well-deserved win. St Galls of Antrim were up next in our final group game. They proved they would be no push over, as straight from the throw up, they scored a goal showing they meant business but our boys again dug deep and from 1 >15, they battled and fought for every ball and after an all-round excellent team performance, our boys won convincingly. It was a day to remember for these young lads, playing for the hoops in a regional Feile and credit must go to every last one of them, they have done us all proud all year. Huge congratulations to the whole panel and big thanks to the management team of Gary McGonnell, Seamus O'Neill and Ciaran O'Neill for their hard work all year with these lads.
The minor boys had a Championship Quarter Final at home last Friday (23rd) against Ardboe. After a tough, physical encounter our lads emerged victorious on a final scoreline of: Killeeshil 0-16 Ardboe 1-7. The lads now play in the Semi-Final of the Championship, this Wednesday the 28th of June at 7.30 pm v Moortown in Moortown. All support is much appreciated for this talented team.
Our seniors ladies continue training this Wednesday (28th) at 7 pm as they prepare for a game this Sunday, the 2nd of July at 7 pm away to Errigal Ciaran.
Our senior and reserve men, welcomed Drumquin to Killeeshil last Sunday (25th). Our reserve men were out first, with our men keen to make amends for their Championship exit against the same opposition, the previous week. Despite falling behind to two early Drumquin points, our men gradually got on top during the game to run out winners on a final scoreline of Killeeshil 4-12 Drumquin 0-12. The senior men then took to the field and they hit the ground running as three early goals in the first half put us in a commanding position in this game and we kept this lead to the final whistle. Final score = Killeeshil 3-12 Drumquin 2-12. Training this week is on Tuesday & Thursday at 7.30 pm. ThisSaturday the 1st of July, we travel to Dunmoyle to play Errigal Ciaran in the league. Reserve game at 4.30 pm and Senior game at 6.00 pm. All support is much appreciated for our men.
Gaelic for mothers and others training continues every Monday at 8.30 pm on the training pitch.
