Tyrone Senior Camogie notes

January 17, 2017

We have recently reformed the Tyrone Senior Camogie Team for  2017,  after a brief period of absence from the  National  League and All-Ireland Competitions over the past few years. Tyrone camogie has been working  very hard with its youth and underage levels and recently brought success back to the county  having won  all Ireland competitions in  2016 at  u14, u16 level.

We now are very fortunate to have a new group of young talented players coming up through the ranks and aspiring towards the senior level having experience a large gap in numbers and players over the past few years. We  are now able to compete at again at senior national level.  Our last major success was back in 2007 and 2008 winning all Ireland division 5  followed national league division 4 and now 2017 we are entering in a division 3 level competition for 2017.

Under the new management of Keiran Leadon for the season ahead the panel is made up of  talented girls throughout Tyrone  Derrytresk, Eglish,  Brocagh, Eire Og Carrickmore, Dungannon,  Ballinderry/Moortown, Fr Shields, St Johns Belfast and Strabane that have been going through their trail sessions over the past number of  weeks. This now the biggest number of camogie clubs  representing a Tyrone  Senior Camogie Team in several  years. Training is already on its way with an excellent new manager and trainer Kieran Leadon former trainer from  who has been putting the girls through their paces from early January assisted by Sinead O'Neill former player who is currently out on a long term knee injury for the year ahead. Girls have been completing trail sessions over the past few weeks and now starting to gather momentum in their training att Eire Og Pitch and Wall ball sessions at  Eoghan Ruadh Hurling Club as we prepare for the first national league fixture against Kerry towards the end of February

Camogie in Tyrone  always work hard to keep the sport alive and balance itself against large numbers of ladies football  and with a new panel of players that still possess both some  very experienced players  and new younger players it is a great opportunity to start rebuilding this young senior team and leading the way again for camogie in Tyrone for the youth coming shortly behind with their most recent success
we aim to continue to grow  to build camogie over the next few years.

This years national league  and all Ireland division 3 competitions  will involve teams from Kerry, Dublin,  Roscommon and Clare whom we will be playing over the next  few months.
