Spectators attending this weekend's big football championship matches in Ulster have been warned of potential traffic delays due to a cycling event in Omagh.

Ulster Council has pointed out that over the weekend of Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June, the All Ireland National Cycling Championships will be taking place in Omagh, which will pose a significant challenge to the general traffic flow around the town.

For those patrons attending the Ulster Senior Football Championship semi-final between Derry and Donegal in Clones on the Saturday evening, some roads in Omagh town centre will be closed between 10am and 4pm.

To aid traffic flow, GAA supporters attending the game in Clones are advised to allow extra time for their journey and where possible make good use of any alternative routes.

Meanwhile, the cycling championships are on again on the Sunday between 10am and 3pm, with Tyrone due to host Limerick in the football qualifiers at Healy Park at 4pm.

"As the cycling event will not be finished until 15.00hrs availability to parking close to Healy Park will not be accessible until after 15.00hrs," the provincial body states.

"Police ask GAA supporters take cognise of this fact and plan their journey around arriving into Omagh no earlier than 15.00hrs. The precincts within 1/2 mile of Healy Park are substantially out of action until after 15.00hrs, as well as the town centre and A5 in the Greater Omagh area."
