AN SRATH BÁN CLG CLUB NOTES
David Devine Memorial Tournament

On Saturday 23rd may the annual David Devine memorial tournament took place at Páirc Mhic Sioghair. The U16 teams from Strabane , Killyclogher, Steelstown and Newtownstewart all takin part in a very competitive pre-season tournament.
Steelstown run out winners on the day after a thrilling final against Killyclogher. A late flurry of points from the player of the tournament, Steelstown's Ben McCarron, separated the teams in the end. Take note of the name as there is no doubt that this very gifted footballer will be one to watch out for in the derry ranks in the future.
The Sigersons men gave a gallant display throughout the day and had a convincing win over local boys Newtownstewart. They unfortunately lost against the two eventual finalists Steelstown and Killyclogher but gave a good account of themselves in both games. Strabane will take heart that despite them being  the only Grade 2 team playing in the competition they gave a good account of themselves and did well to compete with the higher ranking teams.
In attendance, as always, was the Devine family. This year's competition took on extra significance for the family as it was the first time a member of the Devine family was  playing. David's nephew Jordan played full back for the Sigersons team and done his family and uncle proud in doing so. David's Mum and Dad were there to help present Steelstown with the trophy and Club president John McCrory presented David's Mum,  Chrissey, with a bouquet of flowers
The club would like to thank everyone who helped make it a successful tournament. Thanks to Melmount & East Bank Estates Community Associations Forum for sponsoring the event and the prizes. Thank you to all the players and management teams, to the referees and to everyone who assisted with umpiring, running the line and teas. A special word of thanks to Dermot Corry for organising the tournament and to Johnny McHugh for making sure it ran smoothly on the day.
It was a great days of football and the Devine family would also like to express there thanks to everyone involved.
