Jordan admits to 'sledging' opponents who targeted him

Tyrone's Philip Jordan

Philip Jordan has admitted that he indulged in 'sledging' during his Tyrone career - but only when provoked by the opposition.

Writing in his Breaking Ball column in the Irish News about last Sunday's Ulster SFC clash between Tyrone and Donegal, which was blighted by numerous incidents of players mouthing off at each other, Jordan stated: "I have to admit the amount of 'sledging' going on was over the top.

"It wasn't something I did myself when playing, unless provoked by another player; in those cases, you have to stand up for yourself.

"Until we get referees, with the help of their linesmen and umpires, who are willing to issue black cards for verbal abuse, it will continue to be part of the game."
