HL2B playoff: Donegal hold off Red Hands

Donegal retained their Division 2B status following a dramatic victory over Tyrone in today's relegation/promotion playoff replay at Celtic Park.

Late points from Lee Henderson, Sean McVeigh and Ronan McDermott saw the Tir Chonaill men prevail after Tyrone had come from seven points down to regain parity.

The winners got off to a dream start when Ciaran Mathewson opening the scoring with a goal. They led by 2-8 to 0-8 at half-time after Jack O'Loughlin raised another green flag.

Ray Durack's charges extended their lead on the restart before the Red Hands stormed back to level the scoring at 2-9 apiece thanks to goals from Conor Grogan and Damian Casey (penalty).

It was nip-and-tuck thereafter before Donegal finished the stronger to inflict a first defeat of the season on their neighbours, who will remain in Division 3A for another season at least.
