Speaking ahead of this Sunday's Ulster Club SFC final against Omagh St Enda's, Slaughtneil assistant manager John Joe Kearney has hailed the influence of manager Mickey Moran.

Club stalwart Kearney has praised Moran's training techniques in advance of their first ever provincial final appearance.

"Mickey is a very quiet fella," Kearney revealed to The Irish News. "Now, he can raise his voice when he has to, but that's only if he feels he has to. Most of the time he's very calm and collected.

"He speaks to players individually, gives wee tips individually. He just gets on very well with everybody."

He continued: "His training has been excellent - 95 per cent of the fitness training would be done with a ball in hand, and that's more acceptable to young lads than running round the perimeter of a pitch until you're not fit to run anymore, which some men employ as a means of training. That's not Mickey's scene.

"We're pretty fit now, but that has been done without grinding people into the ground. He has got them in good shape. He knows what he is doing."
