'You don't write Stevie O'Neill off'

Tyrone corner back PJ Quinn says you write off Stephen O'Neill at your own peril.

The former Footballer of the Year was well below his usual high standards in last month's Ulster SFC quarter-final defeat to Monaghan, but he bounced back with an impressive display against Louth in the first round of the All-Ireland qualifiers and is expected to be a key man for the Red Hands when they face neighbours Armagh on Sunday.

"To have Stevie around you is something special," Quinn explained to the Tyrone Courier.

"People were probably trying to write him off after the Monaghan game, but you don't write Stevie O'Neill off early."

Quinn admits there was a lot of soul searching done in Tyrone after they were knocked out of Ulster.

"We had to look deep into ourselves. We talked about it after Monaghan put us away, we asked serious questions about ourselves," he continued.

"And thank God, a few boys must have looked deep inside their souls, because when we came out in the second half (against Louth), we got goals and kicked on from there.

"We have bigger opposition now, and that's what we have to build towards."
