Tyrone's minors come first for exciting talent Conor McKenna but he will try his luck at Aussie Rules as soon as their championship interest comes to an end.

McKenna's services are being sought by up to six AFL clubs after he impressed at a developmental camp in London recently but the 18-year-old told the Irish News: "I have made it clear that I'll not be going anywhere until I'm finished with Tyrone.

"They understand that your county's your county, and you have to put your county first.

"I'm here for the minors and I'm hoping to go all the way. Until the minors is over, that's my real focus."

Essendon, West Coast Eagles, Western Bulldogs, Geelong and Collingwood have all held talks with the Eglish clubman.

"I spoke to them over in London. I'm hoping to go over for a trial, but that won't be until after I'm finished with the Tyrone minors.

"It was a great experience, just to see how professional the whole thing is. I was happy with the way the week went.

"I enjoyed it. It's very similar to Gaelic, it's just a matter of putting your Gaelic attributes into the AFL game.

"The only difference is running after the ball. It's an oval shape and a bit weird, but the more you play, the more you get used to it."

Now in his third year as a county minor, McKenna concluded: "I would love to try it, and if I don't try it, it would be the biggest regret of my life.

"It's very exciting. It's a professional sport, and it would be unreal to do."
