Tipperary manager Michael Ryan is adamant that they need to match Kilkenny's level of intensity in order to have any chance of lifting the Liam McCarthy Cup this year.

The scene is set for a titanic battle if both sides go hell for leather for the full 70 minutes of what could be an absorbing contest.

And Ryan admitted to the Kilkenny People that Tipp must give it their all until the final whistle.

"I think intensity is the great leveller and Kilkenny's ability to be relentless is well known," said Ryan.

"They never let up. I don't know when I have ever seen recent Kilkenny teams not reaching a high level of intensity. I have zero doubt that is the challenge facing us, to match that intensity.

"If we are to win the desire won't be sparked by previous losses to Kilkenny. If we match their intensity we will give ourselves a chance."
