The first two of this year's  All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals went down for decision on a historic day at Croke Park.

History-makers Clare and Tipperary were both appearing at this juncture of the football championship for the first time and were full of confidence following their excellent Qualifier victories over Roscommon and Derry respectively last weekend.

The Banner met their Munster championship conquerors Kerry at 2pm, while Tipp faced Connacht kingpins Galway at 4pm, with precious places in the last four up for grabs.
