Former Tipperary sharpshooter Eoin Kelly made his long-awaited return for Mullinahone at the weekend.

Sidelined with a back problem since last October's Tipperary SHC semi-final defeat to Loughmore-Castleiney, Kelly helped Mullinahone to a 1-21 to 2-16 victory over Ballingarry in the South Tipp SHC semi-final at Fethard.

Goals by Padraig Hayes and Philip Ivers cancelled out a 14th minute strike by Eoin's brother Paul to leave Ballingarry a 2-9 to 1-11 ahead at the interval. But with Sean Curran outstanding, Mullinahone came good in the second half to set up a final date with Killenaule.

The other big talking point in Tipperary GAA circles was Michael Quinlivan's performance in the county SFC. The 2011 All-Ireland minor winner blasted 3-8 - he scored a hat-trick of goals in the first 23 minutes - as Clonmel Commercials cruised to a 7-12 to 1-13 win over JK Brackens from Templemore.
