Cork delegates will vote in favour of the one-v-one hurling penalty proposal at this weekend's Congress.

The Irish Examiner reports that there was overwhelming support for the Hurling 20/20 Committee's recommendation at last night's County Committee meeting in Nemo Rangers' complex.

There was, however, opposition to a motion submitted by Tipperary whereby extra-time would be used in all drawn championship games.

Last year the the Premier County's involvement in the All-Ireland SHC final replay had negative repercussions for their local senior football championship.

"It's a radical and unnecessary motion," Cork secretary Frank Murphy told delegates.

"The county where it comes from have had their difficulties, but we have been in All-Ireland finals also and finished our championships in time, we didn't have to wait until St Stephen's Day.

"There is huge promotional advantage in such games and a great deal of finance is generated, which is fed back into the association.

"If the All-Ireland minor final ends in a draw, are we going to put back the senior final, or have the minor game starting unduly early."

The Rebels will also oppose the introduction of a black card into the small ball code.
