Former Tipperary hurler Eddie Connolly, who is battling cancer, made a late appearance for Loughmore-Castleiney in their county semi-final victory over Mullinahone today.
In what was a special moment, spectators at Semple Stadium stood to applaud Eddie as he entered the fray in the final minute of Loughmore's 3-22 to 0-14 win, which secured their place in next Sunday's final against Thurles Sarsfields.
An outstanding dual player who captained Tipp to an All-Ireland IHC title in 2012, Eddie took ill during Loughmore's county SHC semi-final win over Borrisoleigh a year ago and was operated on after a growth was detected on his brain.
Last December, the Tipperary senior hurling team organised a fundraising run in the wake of Eddie's illness for Cancer Care.
Here's hoping we'll see another appearance from this brave young man next weekend.
