It continues to be advantage Kilkenny in the great recent rivalry between themselves and Tipperary.

Kilkenny's victory in this evening's All-Ireland SHC final replay leaves the Premier County with only one win, which came in an Allianz League game at Semple Stadium last year, in 11 competitive meetings with their neighbours since they famously stopped Brian Cody's side bid for an unprecedented five-in-a-row of All-Irelands in 2010.

Today's replay was the eighth national final, between league and championship, that Kilkenny and Tipperary have contested since 2009. The Cats have won the 2009, 2013, 2014 Allianz League finals as well as the 2009, 2011 and 2014 All-Ireland finals.

The black and ambers have won five of the last six meetings between the counties, with the only blip being the drawn All-Ireland final three weeks ago. During Brian Cody's tenure, he has enjoyed 20 wins from 28 league and championship games against Tipp.
