Kerry's Kieran Donaghy and Kieran O'Leary with Ella O'Donoghue (10 weeks) and mum Gillian O'Donoghue at Crumlin Children's Hospital. INPHO

As Kerry supporters prepare to welcome Sam Maguire 'home', here's our team of the week ...

1. Brian Kelly (Kerry)

Was quick of his line to deny Darach O'Connor a clear shot on goal in the first-half and didn't over complicate his kick-out strategy.

2. Marc O Se (Kerry)

Picked up his fifth All-Ireland medal and made a massive contribution in completely nullifying Colm McFadden's threat.

3. Aidan O'Mahony (Kerry)

Detailed with man-marking duty on Michael Murphy, the experienced defender did as good a job as could be expected on Donegal's talisman.

4. Neil McGee (Donegal)

Followed James O'Donoghue out the field and held the Legion ace forward scoreless while, at the other end of the field, he made the scoresheet with a second-half point.

5. Paul Murphy (Kerry)

Ryan McHugh came into the game on the back of a man-of-the-match display against Dublin but he got little change off Murphy who also raised a white flag.

6. Peter Crowley (Kerry)

The centre-back's diving block on David Walsh was one of the highlights of the 70 minutes.

7. Anthony Thompson (Donegal)

After the final whistle, Jim McGuinness bemoaned the fact that his team failed to play up to their potential but Thompson didn't let the side down.

8. Neil Gallagher (Donegal)

The hard grafting midfielder was another Donegal player who could hold his head high at the final whistle.

9. David Moran (Kerry)

Moran wasn't as prominent as he was in the two games against Mayo but didn't shy away from the physical battle.

10. Christy Toye (Donegal)

The 31-year-old had to be content with a place on the bench but had a big influence on proceedings after he replaced Darach O'Connor in the 28th minute.

11. Michael Murphy (Donegal)

Didn't enjoy the impact he would have liked as he struggled to shake off the close attentions of Aidan O'Mahony but was still one of his side's better performers.

12. Johnny Buckley (Kerry)

The black card at the end failed to detract from an industrious performance by the Dr Crokes star who sent over an inspirational point in the second-half.

13. Paul Geaney (Kerry)

Kerry exploited Geaney's height advantage over Paddy McGrath for the opening goal and he finished with 1-2 to his name.

14. Kieran Donaghy (Kerry)

'Star' rolled back the years with a barnstorming display and he punished Paul Durcan's mistake with a cool finish.

15. Paddy McBrearty (Donegal)

Like Toye, McBrearty injected much needed urgency into Donegal's play after his introduction and he kicked two points to keep the Ulster champions in touch.
