Scramble for hurling final tickets begins

The most sought after tickets for a long time

The annual scramble for All-Ireland hurling final tickets has begun in earnest.

Kilkenny and Tipperary will do battle for the Liam MacCarthy Cup on this day fortnight, Sunday, September 7, while Kilkenny will also contest the minor decider against Limerick.

Tickets are expected to be priced at €80 for the seated stands and €40 for Hill 16. The two counties competing in the senior final will receive an allocation of around 10,000 tickets each, with Kilkenny's involvement in the minor decider set to bring their overall allocation to around 13,000.

With Limerick bidding for their first Irish Press Cup in 30 years, there is huge interest in their minor showdown with the Cats, meaning their allocation of about 3,000 tickets won't come close to satisfying demand.

"There is going to be fierce demand. Tickets will be like gold dust. There are no family tickets available," Limerick secretary Mike O'Riordan said.

"The players will be getting a set allocation and the clubs will get a set allocation."

Of the 82,300 tickets available, around 60,000 are distributed to all counties with the rest being divided between premium level, sponsors, GAA staff and sub-committees, Central Council and former presidents, overseas, provinces, press, Croke Park residents and other various units of the Association.
