History was made today when Munster giants Cork and Tipperary collided at Croke Park for a place in the All-Ireland SHC final.

This was their first-ever championship meeting at Headquarters and a new chapter was written in one of the GAA's most enduring rivalries.

The Rebels went into the match as Munster champions (having accounted for Waterford, Clare and Limerick) but the Premier County were buzzing following their Qualifier victories over Galway, Offaly and Dublin.

With Kilkenny awaiting the victors, a mouth-watering contest was in prospect.

The curtain-raiser was special, too, as Galway and Limerick's minors came face to face with last year's controversial semi-final still fresh in the memory.
