Galway manager Alan Mulholland realises his defence will have to tighten up if they are to give Kerry a game of it in the All-Ireland SFC quarter-final next weekend.

The Tribesmen boss was delighted with the five-point victory over Tipperary in Tullamore this evening but the concession of four goals will focus the minds in the coming days as they turn their attention to the Kingdom.

"I think we retreated too much into our shell but we got ourselves into a winning position and, I suppose, looking back on the game, we have to be happy with that performance," he remarked to RTE Radio One.

"I thought it was going to be a tight game coming into it and I think we stamped our authority on it maybe during the third quarter. We're just disappointed that we let the goals in there at the end.

"During the third quarter we ran at Tipperary and were able to seal the game with two goals. We played reasonably well going forward but to let in 4-12, we're going to have to look at that."

Mulholland admits his players will be up against it in the last eight but is looking forward to rising to the challenge of facing the Munster champions.

"That was the prize, we were trying to keep our minds off that all week and concentrate on Tipperary. We managed to do that.

"Look, it's a big ask to go up to Croke Park to play Kerry with what they did to Cork in the Munster final but's it's a good problem to have to solve this week and we look forward to that with relish."
