Sligo turn to Kent and Carty

July 09, 2008
Sligo selectors John Kent and Tony Carty have been asked to take over the managerial reins on an interim basis in the wake of Tommy Jordan's resignation on Monday night. The pair were extended the offer at a specially convened county board meeting last night. Sligo officials want the situation sorted out as quickly as possible ahead of the meeting with either Kilkenny or London in the Tommy Murphy Cup. Sligo PRO Gerry O'Connor revealed that the county board was in shock when Jordan announced he was stepping down due to family reasons. He said: "We knew he had personal problems, but other than that we didn't expect it." O'Connor added: "London and Kilkenny play on July 12, so we are in the position where if we play London we have to travel to Ruislip which is problematic from the cost point of view as well as everything else."
