Sligo's James Weir gives chase to Darragh Gilmartin Meath during the all Ireland MHC B quarter final at Lomans Park Trim

Meath proved way too strong for Sligo in this All Ireland Minor B Hurling Championship quarter final played in ideal conditions at Lomans Park Trim.

Meath 14-25 Sligo 0-6

The writing was on the wall for the visitors in the opening five minutes. Brian Dowling got the scoreboard working, which was eventually to run out of goal digits, when he raised the games first green flag after 30 seconds. A minute later Evan Fitzgerald followed suit and by the 5th minute Nicky Potterton got the Royals third and Nick Fitzgerald's charges were 3-3 to 0-1 ahead. The pattern of the game was set and Meath added four more goals through Potteron (2) Mikey Mullen and Darragh Gilmartin to go in at the break 7-15 to 0-3 in front. Sligo's best player Andrew Kilcullen accounted for two of their first half scores.

Meath introduced five substitutes at the break but there was no let up in their onslaught. It was Sligo through Kilcullen that got the opening score, the visitors first from play but seconds later Gilmartin doubled his goal tally for the boys in Green and Gold.

Substitute Seanie Martin was to have a big bearing on the second half. The Na Fianna star hit 3-4 in a twenty minute spell. Meath captain Jamie Leavy, Dowling and Gilmartin got in for further goals as Meath romped to victory to set up a semi final date with Kildare next Saturday.
