Drumcliffe/Rosses club notes

April 25, 2016

We congratulate Seán Power and Cian Lally on their recent elevation to the Sligo Senior Football Championship panel. It's a fitting recognition for their development at club, college and (minor) county level over the last 12 months.

The seniors unbeaten start to the league came to an end on Saturday evening when they lost to Owenmore Gaels by 1-14 to 1-12 at Connolly Park. Despite a personal contribution of 1-5 by the tireless Neil Ewing, this was a below-par performance from the team overall. We're still top of the table on scoring difference. St Pat's are the visitors to Oxfield on Saturday evening. Throw-in: 7pm.

The Junior footballers began their Division 4 campaign last Sunday, losing 4-11 to 0-7 in the re-arranged game against St Farnan's. Despite being short a number of regulars, the starting 13 showed admirable battling qualities. Team: Des Henry, Jack McLoughlin, Ronan Devaney, Mark Devaney, Paddy Gormley (Player-Manager), Tommy Finnegan (Capt), Declan Gallagher, Fergal McGrath, James McTiernan, Kevin Davey, Barry O'Sullivan, Hugh Kisby, Sean Flanagan. It's early days lads!

Commiserations to Rachel Monaghan, Michelle McNamara and the Sligo ladies team who lost to Roscommon in the opening round of the TG4 Connacht Intermediate Chp in Ballinlough. Our intermediate ladies club game against Eoghan Rua was postponed.

The boys minor footballers travel to Geevagh on Friday evening to play their rearranged Division 3 league match at 7 o'clock.

The Boys U14 footballers scored a 6-10 to 3-13 success over Shamrock Gaels in Riverstown last Thursday.

Our U12 footballers play St John's at Stenson Park on Tuesday evening at 7pm.

Our thanks to Tourlestrane GAA Club for a very enjoyable Go Games U8 & U10 blitz last week. A special mention too for the players and parents who travelled in such large numbers.
