Breheny: it's a learning curve

St Mary's manager Tommy Breheny admits that Sunday's heavy defeat to Corofin in the Connacht club SFC was a learning curve for his young charges.

The Sligo champions were knocked back on their heels as the current All-Ireland club champions made a blistering start to the match and there was no way back for St Mary's.

Speaking to the Sligo Champion, Breheny admitted that they would always be up against it when facing such an experienced side.

"Games like that will stand to us," said Breheny. "We knew coming into the game that it was going to be a different level and we spoke about that.

"We spoke about how important it was to do the simple things well and it was all about doing the simple things well, which we didn't."

He added: "We are an exceptionally young side, a really, really young side, nine under-21s out there so I mean they're learning and days like this they'll learn an awful lot from it."
