Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA notes

August 10, 2015

Intermediate
The intermediate team dug out a vital win in the Intermediate Championship with a 0-10 to 1-5 win over St Farnan's at Quigabar last Sunday afternoon. A very poor opening period with the wind saw our lads trail by four points at the break (1-5, 0-4), but a super second half display, where we kept St Farnan's scoreless and scored six points of our own ensured victory. That is the team's second successive win in the championship and means they are joint top of the table with three games remaining. Next weekend, Castleconnor are the visitors to Quigabar for a league game. Time and day are TBC, keep an eye on our Facebook page for details.
Minor
Our minor team begin their championship campaign this Thursday evening at home to Drumcliffe/Rosses Point at 7pm. Good luck to the players and management for the upcoming campaign.
U-16
Our u-16s have no championship outing this week so training continues.
U-14
The u-14 boys take on a Ballymote/Bunninadden amalgamation this Wednesday evening in a rearranged championship fixture. Throw-in is at 7pm at Quigabar.
U-8/U-10
Our u-8s and u-10s had an enjoyable evening with games against Calry/St Joseph's recently, well done to all.
Golf Classic
We held our golf classic at the wonderfully-presented Enniscrone Golf Club last Friday in glorious sunshine. Overall, the day was a huge success with 24 teams taking part and everyone enjoying the wonderful course. Winners of the first prize of four All-Ireland football final tickets plus accommodation were Ray Basquill, Derek Basquill, John Rush and former club footballer Padraig Tighe. All in all, the day was a great success and great credit is due to coordinator Tom McManus who put a lot of work into organising the day. Thanks also to our huge array of sponsors for their support, it is much appreciated.
Blotto
The blotto draw continues every Saturday night. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Gift for Life Cycle
Mattie Coleman and the Ballina Cycling Club together with Lionbridge are organising a Gift for Life cycle on August 16th to help promote Organ Donation. Mattie is currently looking for stewards to help out locally for an hour on the morning on the cycle, so if you're available contact Mattie (087) 6296914. All help is greatly appreciated for this worthy cause.
