Minor Div 2 League Shield Final: Castleconnor 1-13 v 2-04 Coolera/Strandhill:

Without the unavailable Paul Flynn and Odhrán Quinn to school commitments and Danny O'Hora to injury, our minor team faced a tough proposition in the form of Coolera/Strandhill on Thursday evening in Scarden.
In what was the first of hopefully many of the clubs finals this year, Castleconnor rolled into a 1-2 to no score lead after a well taken Luke Munnelly goal.
Coolera though, eventually found their feet and struck a goal of their own. At the break, Castleconnor led by 1-6 to 1-2.
Coolera started strong in the second half and pulled the gap back to two points but a late surge of quality scores from Seán Carrabine, Jack O'Hora and Micheál Cahill saw Castleconnor secure a deserved five point victory.
A strong defensive display was at the heart of this victory limiting Coolera to six scores. Exceptional displays noted from Cian Barrins and James Boland.
Team: Kenneth Healy, Enda Kilcullen, Stephen Durkan, James Boland, Cian Barrins, Benny Foody, Jack O'Hora (Captain), Seán Carrabine, Micheál Cahill, Lewis Beardshall, Elliot Beardshall, Luke Munnelly, Niall Judge
Everyone at the club would like to congratulate the lads on their efforts so far this year and wish them well in the Championship. Thanks to all the supporters.
Many thanks also to the management of Kieran O'Hora, Mark Carr and Niall Judge. Afterwards the team and travelling contingent had refreshments in Muddy Burns.
Also a thanks to our Minor Team sponsors Muddy Burns Bar & Restaurant and Judges Autos.

Senior Div 2 - Castleconnor 1-10 v 1-08 Easkey:
The Intermediate team kept their hopes of making a league final alive with a well earned win over neighbours Easkey in Corballa on Friday evening.
Despite playing with the breeze and getting countless opportunities, the home side only led by two at half time largely thanks to a Matthew Cullen goal. Eamon Cawley had the chance to put the gap to four but his penalty was put narrowly over after Brian Howley was hauled down by the Easkey keeper.

The hosts started the second half well, with the ever present Stephen Curley keeping the scoreboard ticking over with a total of five points from play. Just as Castleconnor seemed to be getting a real grip on proceedings, midway through the second half Easkey fired into the net after a little confusion in the full back line. However, the visitors couldn't find a way at the goal late on thanks to an extremely solid defensive performance. Despite the home side missing numerous chances to close the game out, they held on for a two point win.

Special mentions for Niall Judge and Keith Earlis who made their first starts of the year following their return from serious knee injuries respectively.

Team: Colin Gordon, Tom Cawley, Brendan Howley, Ronan Keane, Cian Barrins, John McDonnell, Jack O'Hora, Michael Langan, Kevin Langan, Keith Earlis, Eamon Cawley, Stephen Curley, Niall Judge, Brian Howley, Matthew Cullen  Subs: Paul Sweeney, Stephen Kilgannon, (Both Featured) Stephen Durkan, Ciaran Kilcullen, Barnes Kelly, Vinny Howley

Next up for the senior team is a must win tie in Templeboy against St. Farnans next Sunday the 24th of May at 2pm.

Senior Div 4 - Castleconnor 3-17 v 2-06 St. Farnan's:
The junior team notched up their first win of the year with a comfortable victory over St. Farnans in Corballa on Sunday.
A Matthew Cullen goal and two from Vinny Howley meant the result was rarely in doubt. A host of single scores from Cullen along with a couple each from Vinny and Brian Howley, Niall Judge and John Cullen was enough to give the home side the win.
Team:
Anthony Kilcullen, Darragh Gilmartin, Frank Barrett, Keith Earlis, Stephen Kilgannon, Conor Gallagher, Brian Howley, Ciaran Kilcullen, Niall Judge, Matthew Cullen, John Cullen, Vinny Howley, Ronan Barrett, Bart Barrins
