Tourlestrane club notes

Our Senior footballers returned to action on Saturday last when they played St. Mary's in Kent Park. After a slow first half the team pulled back to draw the match on a score of 0-11 to 1-8. The team play Tubbercurry on Sunday at 2pm in Tourlestrane.

Our junior team got their Division 4 league off to the perfect start on Sunday last with a 3..08 to 2..08 win over Owenmore Gaels. Having to play without their six Sligo County minor players they trailed by 4 points at half time. However goals by Jerome Quinn, Gearoid Brennan and Paul Meers coupled with the introduction of teenager Daniel Clarke got them back on track in the second half. The team was David O'Hara, Shane Neary, Colm McVeigh, Matthew Lang, Tom Brennan, Padraig McVeigh, Paul Meers, Kenny Gavigan, Oisin Kennedy, Jerome Quinn, Niall Egan,Ruairi Brennan, Gearoid Brennan, Eoin Fleming, Niall Brennan & Daniel Clarke. Their next outing is a home fixture against Castleconnor on Saturday the 25th of April at 7pm.

Hard luck to our Hurlers who suffered defeat to St. Domnics in the Tain league on Friday last.


Our Minor boys travel to St. Farnan's on Thursday at  7pm to play round 2 of the league.
Our U-16 boys play St. Mary's tomorrow evening, Monday April 13th, at 7pm in Kent Park in the Quarter Final of the league. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

The U-14 boys team recorded a good win over Easkey on Friday with a 2-15 to 4-4 victory. The team play Coolaney/Mullinabreena on Wednesday at Nace O'Dowd Park at 7pm.

Our U-12 team start their league campaign when they travel to Fr. Brehony Park on Tuesday the 14th of April to take on Eastern Harps. The club have entered two teams, one competing in Division 1 and the other competing in Division 4.

Congratulations to our U-12 Hurlers and management who represented the club in Croke Park on recently. The team showed how much hurling talent is coming up in our club and we are very proud of their performance at the National GAA Grounds. A special thanks to John Lang and Gearoid Brennan for their continued hard work with the underage hurlers in the club.

Congratulations to Liam Gaughan, Rian Kennedy, Darren O'Hara, Darren Leonard, Richard Lang, Ciaran Walsh and all the Sligo Minor team and management on winning the Connaght League on Saturday evening in Enniscrone. The team fought back after trailing at the interval on a score of 0-2 to 0-7 to win, 0-11 to 0-10.

Pride of the parish also goes to our U-14 ladies team who have continued their winning streak, adding to their titles at U-12 level. The team made history on Monday last when they were crowned U-14 A Féile Champions. The team will now travel south on June 26th - 28th where they will represent Sligo in the Féile na nÓg competiion. This year the competition will be hosted between Carlow, Wicklow and Wexford. Well done to all players and the management team of Leo Gaughan, Patrick Hegarty and Maureen Walsh.

Well done to Katie Walsh, Aisling Egan, Grainne Carty, Paddy Henry and all the Sligo Ladies team and management who have qualifed for the Tesco Football League Semi Finals. The team overcame Fermanagh on a score of 4-8 to 0-4 on Sunday last in Derrygonnelly.
