Tourlestrane club notes

Our Senior Hurlers lost the second round of the Dermot Molloy League when they went down to Western Gaels on Saturday last. The game took place in Tourlestrane and the goals made the real difference with Western Gaels winning on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-7. The team have a break from this competition this weekend and will resume the league campaign with a round 3 tie with Cluainin Iomaint on Saturday the 18th of April at 6.30pm in Tourlestrane. The team switch to the Tain League this weekend when St. Domnics travel to Tourlestrane, The game is round 5 and takes place at 2pm.

Our U-14 Hurlers start their league campaign tonight when they take on Calry/St. Josephs at 6.30pm in Tourlestrane.

The U-16 Hurlers played Easkey in round 1 of their league on Monday evening but were unfortunately beaten, 9-6 to 6-6.

Congratulations to our U-12 Hurlers and management who represented the club in Croke Park on Tuesday last. The team showed how much hurling talent is coming up in our club and we are very proud of their performance at the National GAA Grounds. A special thanks to John Lang and Gearoid Brennan for their continued hard work with the underage hurlers in the club.

Our Senior Men resume their league campaign this Saturday at 6.30pm when they travel to Kent Park to take on St. Mary's in round 3.

Our Junior men are also in action this weekend when they play Owenmore Gaels on Sunday at 2pm in Connolly Park in Divison 4.

Our Minor boys team overcame Owenmore Gaels in style on Friday last, 7-20 to 2-7. The games due to take place this week have been postponed due to the county minor team having a 'winner takes all' match with Mayo on Saturday. The games have been refixed for the 4th of May.

Our U-14 footballers play Easkey in round 2 of the league on Friday night at 6:30pm in Tourlestrane.

Our U-12 team start their league campaign when they travel to Fr. Brehony Park on Tuesday the 14th of June.

Well done to the boys and girls on our U-10 team for their outstanding display at the county blitz on Saturday last in Scarden.Thanks to all team mentors and parents who attended and helped out today. St Molaise Gaels, Eastern Harps, Easkey and Drumcliffe/Rosses Point all took part too.

Our Senior ladies were due to take on Drumcliffe/Rosses Point this Saturday in the warm up league but at the time of writing it does not look like the game will be going ahead due to Drumcliffe/Rosses Point unable to field a team.

Pride of the parish also goes to our U-14 ladies team who have continued their winning streak, adding to their titles at U-12 level. The team made history on Monday last when they were crowned U-14 A Féile Champions. The team will now travel south on June 26th - 28th where they will represent Sligo in the Féile na nÓg competiion. This year the competition will be hosted between Carlow, Wicklow and Wexford. Well done to all players and the management team of Leo Gaughan, Patrick Hegarty and Maureen Walsh.

Congratulations to Conor Walsh, Rhue, on coming 2nd in the World Irish Dancing Championships in Montreal on Saturday last. On behalf of all the Tourlestrane GAA club, well done!

Well done to Sligo Senior Men who secured their place in Division 3 next year with an excellent win over Armagh on Sunday last. Best wishes to Sligo Ladies team and management who travel to Fermanagh on Sunday in the last round of the group stages of the league. The team have already qualified for the league semi finals which will take place on the weekend of the 25th/26th of April, opposition will depend on Sunday's results.

Best of luck to Sligo Minors team and management on Saturday when they play Mayo, having played some excellent football throughout the Connacht League, the team now play our neighbours in a ' winner takes all game'. The club is well represented with 6 of our minors on the team. Please show your support for the boys by making the short trip to Enniscrone this Saturday at 5.30pm.

The last Banada Disco of the Easter holidays takes place this Friday the 10th of April.
