Sligo manager Niall Carew admits that experienced defender Charlie Harrison will be a massive loss this year, but he stressed that the former captain will come back stronger from his cruciate injury.
Harrison has been ruled out of action for the year after he damaged the cruciate knee ligament just over a fortnight ago.
His experience will be hugely missed, and Carew acknowledged this fact to the Sligo Champion.
"Charlie is a driven and motivated player. A cruciate injury can affect people so badly and the recovery takes dedication in terms of going to rehab and looking after yourself, and it takes a lot of commitment," said Carew.
"But these attributes all apply to Charlie and I know he'll get himself on the road to recovery and he'll come back even stronger.
"He's a very experienced player. He is a massive loss to us. Not only is he a big loss to the team because of his work on the field, but it's what he does off the field that people don't see and where he really excels. It's a big blow for us."
