Carew targets win

Sligo manager Niall Carew believes that they have enough work done to see off the challenge of Limerick in Sunday's NFL Division Three opener at Newcastle West.

Carew will take charge of the side for the first time in the league and he is keen to get the campaign off to a winning start.

Sligo played Limerick twice last year in the league and qualifiers and were victorious on both occasions and the former Waterford manager told the Sligo Champion, they were hoping to make it three wins in a row.

"We've done our homework on Limerick and they probably have done the same on us," said Carew. "I feel this is a game we are capable of winning. The players know that themselves. If we perform the way I know we can, we certainly can get a result.

"Obviously, we hope to get promotion. But, first and foremost I want the team to perform in every game. If we do that, then everything else will take care of itself and we will see where we are at the finish."
