Pat Flanagan.

Sligo chairman Joe Taaffe is eager to find a replacement for Pat Flanagan as senior football manager.

Flanagan was stood down from the role at the weekend after, he failed to confirm to the county board whether he was willing to stay on in the job and he leaves after just one year in charge of the Yeats County and he is now heavily linked with his native county Offaly.

For Sligo, they must begin the search for his successor and Taaffe stressed to the Sligo Champion that work has already begun on finding a replacement.

"We would hope to have the situation resolved sooner rather than later. Within two weeks would be ideal, but it might not work that way," said Taaffe.

"We're looking for the best man for the job, be it inside or outside the county. We haven't approached anyone as of yet."
