Sligo GAA Day at the Races a resounding success

Sligo GAA held a very successful Race Day on the magnificent Cleveragh track last Tuesday evening.
This was a new venture for the GAA fraternity and it proved a resounding success and a thoroughly enjoyable evening for all those who attended.
Peter Greene, Chairman Sligo GAA Commercial team said that the event would not have been possible without the hard work put in by the members of the Commercial team and the many generous Sponsors detailed later in this report.
He also paid tribute to Sligo Racecourse committee and Brian Kennedy and his team for their co-operation and support in running the Race Day.
RTE presenter Marty Morrissey mingled with the crowd and many of the GAA patrons availed of photo opportunities both on the course and at the post Races BBQ afterwards in Kennedy's Bar.
Many other well known personalities attended including racing legend Ted Walsh, former GAA President Joe McDonagh and his fellow Galwegian GAA hurling pundit Cyril Farrell and representing the ladies, RTE local correspondent Eileen Magnier and MEP Marian Harkin.
Traditional Irish Music on the evening was provided by the McKenna and McGloin quartet and Bernadine McGauran and friends.
The Best Dressed competitions created great excitement and thanks to competition judges Mary Feeney, Finuala Hogan and Mark Cunningham and Tommy Clarke of EJ's. See below for winners.
So all in all a very successful event and look forward to a repeat in 2015.
